Monday 1st to Sunday 7th January 2018
Monday we did our usual walk along the prom and back through town, stopping in the square at Miracles along the way. It was another beautiful day with cloudless blue skies, warm sunshine and happy tourists. For dinner we had left over lasagne.
Tuesday we went to Sliema so Sam could visit the dentist. We also went to look around the sales and I ended up buying two pairs of half price Sketchers which is a real result. Sketchers are definitely the best shoes for people with wide feet. Today is the day we have decided to improve our diets but Sam is likely to follow a much higher meat diet than me. She made a soup using a pork knuckle for her dinner. I made roasted root vegetables with home-made baked beans.
Wednesday I had a haircut, collected water and we had a Spanish lesson. Busy, busy! A gale blew all day long, so no walk today. For dinner we both had left overs, soup for Sam, vegetables and baked beans for me.
Thursday the wind finally eased off by the afternoon so I went for a good walk. For dinner I made a fantastic egg curry with chips. Sam had a vegetable soup.
Friday Sam met Tina at lunchtime and they went to Golden Bay for a walk on the beach and a glass of water. Aren’t diets fun? I went to Xemxija Café for a cappuccino and a slice of cherry cheese cake. Oops. For dinner Sam had roasted chicken with broccoli. I had chicken in a BBQ sauce with sweetcorn. Oops.
Saturday morning I took the car to Mgarr to be valeted. The weather was stunning and I walked into Zabbiegh, stopping at The Hungry Wolf for a cappuccino. Back home I had left over BBQ chicken for lunch. Oops. I did a walk towards Xemxija and back but it was very hot and humid and quite hard work. In the evening Chris and Tina came around bringing with them salads, wraps stuffed with spinach and mushrooms and an apple pastry. Sam had made a big anti pasta plate, mixed Indian canapes, hummus, crudités and mince pies. In other words we had something of a banquet!
Sunday we went for a walk along the promenade, stopping at Miracles for cappuccini. That’s becoming a bit of a routine. For dinner Sam had left overs but I made vegan chilli soup which, I confess, was a bit too hot.
