Tuesday 21st to Sunday 26th March 2017

Tuesday I flew back to Malta from Gatwick and guess what? It was grey and raining! Anyway, I got home safely, unpacked, did washing, read 379 emails had a goats cheese and vegetable pizza for dinner and crashed into bed at 8.30.

Wednesday I did a great walk, so happy to see the sun again! We got keys cut for the new front door of our building. Apparently it hadn’t occurred to our landlady that the tenants would need keys! In the evening we went to Miracles, then on to Acqua Marina for dinner. As usual we had a warm welcome ad great food. First a complimentary anchovy fish cake, then a bruschetta with tomatoes, olives and grated feta. For mains Sam had penne sepia di nero and I had penne amatriciana. We finished with limoncello sorbets.

Thursday while Sam was at art class, I went to find the Xemxija Heritage Trail. I’d not found it previously as I’d been looking in the wrong place! It is a rough path that zigzags over and around the ridge above Xemxija with lots of interesting things to see such as Roman apiaries (no bees any more, thank God), burial caves and other caves that were lived in as recently as the 1930s. Paul came to plan the installation of a new air conditioner in our office. For dinner I cooked a chilli con carne using mince which we had with triple cooked chips. I went for a good walk after dinner, getting back into good habits again.

Friday I got up early and did a 5km power walk. Late morning we went to Mambo’s for cappuccini, then had a walk around the beaches and headland. In the afternoon we went to Lidl where they had offers on canvasses. We had pizzas for dinner.

Saturday we went to the Craft Village café to sit and chat and sip cappuccini. We drove on to BigMat to buy dust sheets; our new air conditioner should be fitted on Tuesday. We drove on to Mgarr, stopping on the way to buy strawberries from a local farmer. They are huge and juicy and perfectly ripe. We had a walk around Mgarr, which really doesn’t take very long! In the evening we went for a walk before dinner, stopping at Miracles to people watch in the busy town square. For dinner we had left over chilli.

Sunday I was a bit under the weather so stayed in. Corn fritters for dinner!
