Monday 19th to Sunday 25th December 2016

Monday I visited Pama and then Xemxija Café for a cappuccino and a slice of cherry cheese cake. Yum, yum! It was still rainy, so no walk again. For dinner I made us a cream of tomato soup with crusty bread.

Tuesday we went to the craft village for cappuccini. We went on to HomeMate and the Atrium to do some shopping – Christmas lights and a cordless phone – then came back home and Sam built a “Christmas tree” around our standard lamp and draped it with the lights. And very good it looks too! For dinner we had roasted chicken, baked sweet potatoes and sweetcorn.

Wednesday I went exploring local shops for dehumidifiers. I had a good cappuccino in the Donut Factory on Mosta Road and bought pea pastizzis for our lunch. For dinner we went to Fat Harry’s for beers then Acqua Marina for excellent food. Sam had calamari followed by spaghetti vongole. I had a giant bruschetta of tomatoes, olives and grated feta followed by spaghetti amatriciana. For pudding we had a deconstructed cannoli. It was all great as always.

Thursday we did a big supermarket shop. From tomorrow we will be officially on holiday until the New Year, so we don’t want to spend too much time in supermarkets! I pre-cooked a batch of chilli con carne, some for tomorrow, some for the freezer. For dinner we had left over roast chicken dinner.

Friday we went to Eatetna for cannoli and cappuccini, then had a walk around Qawra. On the way home we popped into Mr Miracle to buy our duck for Christmas Day. The big news here today was that a plane with 118 passengers was hijacked in Libya and flown here. The airport was closed for several hours until the hijackers surrendered. For dinner we had chilli con carne which was amazing!

Saturday we went to the farmers market, then to the Craft Village café where I had a giant chocolate chip cookie for my breakfast! We drove on to Mambos so Sam could have a bruschetta for her brunch. I did a long walk in the afternoon. In the evening we went to Sun City for a beer, then on to HOS for dinner – papadums, chicken tikka masala, naan bread and a chicken biryani – all very tasty.

Sunday – Christmas Day – we went for a walk and ended up at Miracles for brunch. Sam had prosecco and bruschetta with feta cheese. I had a cappuccino with some garlic bread. For dinner we had a slow roasted duck which was fantastic, with lots of roasties and carrots.
