Monday 10th to Sunday 16th October 2016
Monday John the handyman visited with the aluminium guy to replace the kitchen door handle. We did a supermarket shop and worked. Late afternoon I did a power walk but it is really still too humid to do that in the daytime. For dinner Sam cooked roasted chicken, baked sweet potatoes, sweetcorn and sage and onion stuffing. Lovely!
Tuesday we went to Eatetna for excellent cappuccini and cakes. In the evening Sam went to the San Antonio Hotel to meet her visiting friends for dinner. I made an unusual lasagne. I cooked onions, bacon and mushrooms, mixed them with cooked chicken and stirred the lot into a béchamel. I layered it with lasagne sheets and cheese and it was very tasty, if a bit rich.
Wednesday we were in working most of the day. For dinner I made a pork vindaloo in our slow cooker.
Thursday morning I did a power walk to Xemxija and back. It was hot and humid going; it’s not supposed to be so humid in October! We sat on the terrace at sunset and it is noticeable how much cooler the evenings are now though. At this rate I may need to start wearing a shirt in the evenings. For dinner we had left over pork vindaloo.
Friday was all work and no play. Pizzas for dinner.
Saturday we went to Armier Bay in the morning. Tina met us there and, after coffee and cappuccini, she and Sam swan for about an hour. I was far more sensible. I sat in the shade – it’s blisteringly hot here again – and read my book. I’m reading The Godfather at the moment, a great read if ever there was one. In the evening we went to Bla Bla for excellent sangria then on to the New Madras for an Indian. It was very good. We haven’t been there for ages as previously everything was too salty but they seem to have sorted that out. I had chicken 65 followed by a vegetable biryani and Bombay potatoes. Sam had onion bajis followed by butter chicken and a naan bread.
Sunday we idled. Spaghetti arabbiata for dinner.
